Lebanon’s Castania defies regional crisis to cement dominance in global nuts market
Strategic expansion ensures uninterrupted production and supply chain stability
BEIRUT – At a time when Lebanon continues to face economic and operational uncertainty, businesses across industries are under increasing pressure to maintain performance while adapting to evolving conditions.
Within this environment, the food production sector remains particularly sensitive, requiring both resilience and consistency to sustain market confidence.
Amid these challenges, Castania has reinforced its position as a leading brand in the nuts category, not only within Lebanon but across regional and international markets. With a heritage spanning more than 40 years, the company’s growth has been built on a combination of scale, operational discipline, and a sustained focus on product quality.
Over the decades, Castania has played a defining role in shaping consumer expectations in the nuts segment, setting benchmarks for consistency, packaging, and product standards across Lebanon and the wider region. While rising costs and supply chain pressures have forced many businesses to adjust their offerings, the company has maintained its established quality standards across its portfolio.
Operational strength
The company operates with a workforce of more than 450 employees, supported by three production facilities located across Lebanon and Jordan. Its annual production capacity exceeds 12,000 tonnes, positioning it among the more structured food manufacturing platforms in the region.
Castania’s product portfolio includes over 100 SKUs, distributed through a network of approximately 70 vehicles serving more than 12,000 points of sale across Lebanon. This extensive reach reflects the company’s established market presence and its ability to maintain consistent supply across retail channels.

Since the onset of recent regional instability, Castania has sustained full operational continuity across its production, supply chain, and distribution functions. This continuity is underpinned by long-term planning and a structured operational framework designed to withstand market disruptions.
Strategic expansion
A key element of this resilience lies in the company’s early decision to diversify its manufacturing base beyond Lebanon. More than 15 years ago, Castania established a production facility in Jordan, a move that has since become central to its ability to maintain uninterrupted supply to key markets.
This expansion has enabled the company to mitigate risks associated with regional volatility while ensuring operational flexibility. As a result, Castania has been able to sustain production output and meet market demand even during periods of disruption.
From its primary manufacturing base in Lebanon, the company operates facilities spanning more than 12,000 square metres, complemented by over 6,000 square metres of dry and refrigerated storage capacity. These facilities support an integrated production ecosystem that incorporates advanced technologies aimed at enhancing efficiency and maintaining consistent output.
In an environment where industrial continuity is increasingly challenged, Castania continues to play a role in supporting Lebanon’s food production sector and export activity.
Global reach
Alongside maintaining its core operations, Castania has continued to expand its product range in response to changing consumer preferences. Recent additions to its portfolio include peanut butter, nut-based snack bars, and protein bars, reflecting a shift towards broader snacking and nutrition categories.
On the international front, the company exports to more than 40 countries, reinforcing its position as one of the most widely distributed nuts brands originating from Lebanon. Its global expansion strategy has focused on strengthening relationships with partners and retailers, ensuring consistent availability of its products across diverse markets.
Despite rising logistics costs and shifting global trade dynamics, Castania has maintained its export operations, supporting the continued presence of Lebanese-made products in regional and international retail environments.
